An announcement from the office of Governor Andrew Cuomo disclosed the launch of a blockchain-backed application called “Excelsior Pass.”

According to the announcement, individuals can print their Blockchain-based Covid-19 passport. Moreover, individuals can store it on their phones through the Excelsior Pass Wallet application, just like they do with a mobile airline boarding pass.

Blockchain-Based Passport to Fight COVID-19

With the passport, individuals can prove his/her recent negative antigen or PCR test result. It’ll also help individuals prove that they’ve taken the vaccine, which will help to speed up the reopening of businesses.

The pass will also help reopen other events such as wedding receptions, major stadiums, theaters, catered events, and others as long as they abide by NY State guidelines.

Some locations that will be implementing the pass are places such as the Times Union Center in Albany and the Arenas Madison Square Garden located in Manhattan. Even though there are assurances that other locations will also implement the pass after some time.
