Huobi Global shook the crypto community by announcing that Vincent Lau is now serving as its new M.D. Huobi Global is amongst the top cryptocurrency exchanges in the industry with a trading volume of $2.15 trillion, which kept it at the second position on volume as last year.
Lau has worked as an executive in other top players in the blockchain industry and outside the industry. Previously, Vincent Lau worked for OKEx, another large cryptocurrency exchange with a trading volume of $1.53 trillion, and Bitfinex with a trading volume of above $1.4 billion.
He had also worked for Iclick Interactive and Groupon, a marketing firm and an eCommerce marketplace. So, it’s not surprising that Huobi Global will be interested in bringing him to their side.
Vincent Lau Responsibilities at Huobi Global
As the managing director of Huobi Global, Vincent will manage its local operations, strategic development, and international expansion. According to an announcement that the firm made before now, they’re planning to open up shops in larger markets across Africa, Southeast Asia, European Union, and the Middle East.
Vincent Lau will also be in charge of overseeing the firm’s move into the Decentralized Finance sector. He will also handle the development of Huobi’s smart contract platform overseas and push for global adoption of its H-tokens.
According to Huobi, its H-tokens serve as a bridge that links the Decentralized Finance market and centralized market. The H-tokens are usually backed by crypto assets from other blockchains.
Vincent Lau Reacts to New Appointment
While reacting to the new position, Lau expressed his enthusiasm and excitement to be joining the Huobi Global team. According to him, the adoption of digital assets is skyrocketing as the firm is one of the players expected to expand successfully into the global markets.
So, the new MD is thrilled to spearhead such global expansions while increasing financial access to the communities at large.
In another news, Huobi Technology Holdings, a subsidiary of Huobi Global, can now launch its “crypto asset management portfolio” in Hon Kong. This is after receiving the approval of the Hong Kong Securities & Futures Commission to commence the launch.
